Museum Modern in South St Louis City

In 2021, I trademarked the phrase Museum Modern based on a style reminiscent of Mid-Century Modern (Circa 1950-1970). The famous style still has merit and is cherished by a new generation of young people in the new 21st century. Museum Modern adds a layer on top of the original style, with a concentration of creative arts and original pieces of art incorporated within.

When a repeat client provided me with the opportunity to design their new home with a freehand for design, I applied Museum Modern as the basis for the project. The importance of sculptural geometry, nature and sustainability, and the importance of artworks inside and outdoors warrants a strong and unique approach for the project.

The exterior cubist geometry, using a variety of metal clad and large expanses of glass, create an beacon within the neighborhood. The interior is a warm natural environment with wooden floors and ceilings, tinted flooring, fine cabinetry, and artworks strategically placed for color and surprise.

The facade celebrates a home with personality,  composed of Corten steel along the first floor and silver metal at the second story. Its pair of windows framed in brass, becomes the eyes with the sculptural lips on the ground expressing a welcoming and humorous surprise.

When my clients purchased a city lot, it contained an abandoned community swimming pool. the new home hugs the water feature, with the Living and Dining rooms overlooking the stunning natural environment of the renovated garden pool and outdoor entertainment space as the main feature.
